Welcome to Year 1 – we have a great team of SVP special, valuable people working with our brilliant children!
Our class teacher is Mrs. Hart
We also have teaching assistant: Miss. Johnson.
We follow an Enquiry Based Creative Curriculum in KS1 that provides the children with the opportunity to use and apply the knowledge and skills they have acquired in a real context.
Our Enquiry this term will be on 'People who help us'
We will begin with the people who help us at home and talk about and explore the people who visit our homes to help us for example the postman and refuse collectors.
We will visit different areas within school to find out about the jobs people have to keep our school safe and healthy.
We will visit the kitchen and talk to our school cook to find out how our school lunches are made and where the food comes from.
We will welcome visits from the local emergency services to talk about their job and how they help to keep people safe such as the community police, health care workers and the local vicar Reverend Glyn.
We will write in response to a story e.g creating a wanted poster for the giant or a letter from baby bear in 'The Jolly Postman' book
We will retell familiar stories and create our own.
We will write and read for a purpose e.g lists, invitations, letters, cards and postcards.
